this game runs really choppy but the bottom still says it's running 60fps and I sudden pauses in between scenes even with advanced block linking off. Is there a way to fix this?

Are you absolutely sure it's off? I only ask because there are two places where it can be disabled, the global settings and the rom settings. The rdb (the latest anyway) sets it to global in the rom settings, so this may not be your problem. It's worth checking though. Otherwise, I'm afraid I can't help.
