configure controller input

i am trying to change the controls the first one i click automaticly goes to rz+ (i believe its right mouse) and then i keep getting the error "sorry the input selected is already made" before i click a button i don't think its my mouse is there a way to fix it?, i am running project 64 in wine for ubuntu 12.10 if that helps

EDIT:

i was wrong about the mouse it is an axis on my new controller its brand new so i doubt its the issue and it works in snes so it should be ok

Yes, it's WINE. Had the same problem. Switch the controller in the drop-down menu from “(event)” to “(js)”. See attached screenshot if you're unsure.
