Chankast have FPS "hiccups" during play for you too?

Hello, I just tried out Chankast. So far so good. I just wanted to know if its normal for games such as Ikaruga / Zero Gunner 2 to have short bursts of slow framerates during gameplay. Its not always during an intense scene either. I get a good 65FPS during normal play with Ikaruga for example, but during some points almost randomly it drops to 23FPS for a few seconds, then back to full speed, and not much changed during that scene. I'm running it off Alcohol 120%'s virtual CDROM, and even tried disabling the sound card. Im using my friends computer which has 1GB RAM, a ATI 9800PRO, and an AthlonXP 3200+. Any ideas on how to avoid these framerate hiccups, or just wait til a new Chankast release (for Ikaruga I use .25 with nothing enabled via Video Settings) (for Zero Gunner I use .2 with nothing enabled in Video Settings)? Remember, where there's a will there's a way! ;)

It's just a alpha product, I think no game will always be on fullspeed... wait for the next release... PLEASE!

Well I think that everyone knows that... (most of them at least) but somehow they put it in the back of their head, and they go and have high expectations...

Come to think of it is the same with Pro Wrestling (for those who like it) it's like people know that it's not for real (not fake, but not for real) you know what I mean... but still they watch it (and take it seriously… most of the time) without ever thinking about it, but they do know about it every single second as they are watching it... same with movies and other forms of entertainment... (except porn) you know what I mean... :p

Anyways as I said before... yes most people know that this emu is alpha and such but still, they set high ("unrealistic") standards and expectations for it anyways... for all I know this behaviour is a mystery (like most of our social "flock instincts" one might say)... mystery... yes rare... hell no... its almost like some strange reversed form of making the best out of what you got...

I think you're missing the point of this thread.
I already know its an alpha. I don't care if it's a beta, ahpa, or omega. The game runs almost near perfectly. So the point is, is more of a if theres a will theres a way. Just like the author of this emu has the will to make this emulator in the first place, it's up to us to debug and find out everything we can do to use this emulator to its full capacity. Not doing so, and just saying oh its an alpha dont even bother figuring it out and wait, makes no sense to me. Fact is, I tried Ikaruga on a Intel P4 2.8GHz with GeForce FX GO 5600 (laptop), and it ran without these hiccups. So I'm trying to pinpoint the cause of them, whether it be a sound driver, graphic driver, or some sort of hardware. I'm only trying to help out here and get this emulator working to its best on as much hardware I, and even you if you choose so, have. I can understand that these hiccups aren't such a big deal, but to me it's something I think I can solve through trial and error.

To get back on track. If anyone with Ikaruga can play and get to the second level, in the beginning of it, is there slowdown by about 50%? It's quite noticable so if you dont notice slowdown at first then you probably dont have these hiccups. So either way if you want to help, jot down what hardware you have, what Chankast version, and whether slowdown (hiccups as I keep referring to them as), occur.

Yeah i think the developers are doing what they can to fix these hiccups :plain:
You say like you command them to fix them :getlost:
Anyway the same thing happends to me too so you are not the only one

People watch wrestling for the drama. It just so happens that it's performed in front of live viewers, which adds to the feeling that it's real.

No. I'm not asking for the developers to fix this. Thats up to them. What I want to do is figure out how I can fix these bugs myself either through trial and error with certain hardware setups, using different settings in Chankast, or a combination of settings and hardware/software that I myself can get the best performance from Chankast. :)
