N64 Program to visually show controller analog stick input?

I have bought a USB-based third-party Nintendo 64 controller and I feel it may only have eight directions digitally on the analog stick, with no force stepping (which allows a character to walk instead of run, for example).

Is there a way I can test this?

Turns out TAS Input Plugin 0.6 shows a controller dialog during gameplay (I tested the plugin with Mupen64 RR).

When I push the analog stick a little in any direction, it shows that it goes all the way in that direction. 0 or 1, basically.

Can someone else test this for me with their controller, please?

Some controllers are just not very good, so if you play a game like super mario 64 and you tilt the analog stick a little bit, mario will begin to run instead of walking. If you want to, you could try adjusting the range in project 64 to see if it helps.
