I don't understand the controller configuration at all

I'm using a Logitech Dual Action controller (the one modeled after the PS2), and I can't figure out how to work the controller configuration. Every time I hit the little blue square and move a button it either sets it to "Joy up" every time or gives me a warning beep saying "Sorry the input selection made is already in use"

Can anyone else help me understand how to get this to work, please?

Little blue square?

Anyway, let see if I can get this right... try disabling the Logitech Profiler and try again. Also, is the controller detected properly by Windows. The Dual Action has quite a few issues, especially when the Profiler is active.

Sounds like an overly sensitive analog stick. Try calibrating it first (Control Panel, Gaming Options applet). If that doesn't work, max out the deadzone setting in the plugin before you configure it. When you're finished, turn it back down to a more reasonable level (usually 10-15%).
