Can't stop codes once started

Hey,
I'm playing Zelda, Majoras Mask on PJ64v1.5. My problem is that when I check the box in the cheats to walk through walls, extra bottles, masks ect. they stay on after I un-check the boxes.

I've tried re-starting the emu but the cheats remain active upon re-start.
I do all of my saving and loading via F5 and F7.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's your problem right there. Save states save the "state" of emulation. Every cheat, glitch, error, whatever will be saved. Stick with native saves.

So then when I reach a save point then load my game from that save the cheat should be off?

Also when I set a cheat to allow me to walk though walls I can't get it to stop when I un-check the box thus not allowing me to push blocks. This happens with out saving.

How can I get the code to stop working?

Yes, loading a native save *should* clear most cheats.
