    Unhappy Graphics plugin problem

ok, i looked and i didn't see any similar questions. so i think it might be ok to post it. when i download pj64 and opened it gave me the following error: Direct3D failed to initialize Error code: 8876086A D3ERR_NOTAVAILABLE. i've checked my computer and my direct3d thing works. also it says the graphics plugin is missing or invalid. can someone please help?

When was the last time you updated your graphics card drivers? What is your graphics card?

i rechecked and the problem is the PLUGIN not the graphics card. i've got directx 9 i think. and the problem says my plugin is missing or invalid. i didn't move my plugin jabo, and i tried putting glide but...nothing. should i download it into like a single file? like make it's own file or leave out.

No, the problem is your graphics card unless you are really missing the graphics plugin dll in your Plugin folder.

Project64's error message (D3DERR_...) means that, as soon as the program starts, the emulators queries your video card whether it'll support the graphic plugin currently in use. If the query fails, the graphics plugin cannot be used because the video card seemingly failed to return necessary info about Direct3D support. (failed to initialize).

The part "missing or invalid" means that the emulator always expects the graphics card and its drivers to be faultless, regardless of what the result of the aforementioned query was. It [should] also alert the user into checking that there really are plugins in the Plugin folder and the files within are really the files Project64 can use.

If you've download the official Project64 package, there are no missing plugins, and none of the plugins are invalid/broken.

All I can say is you yourself need to grab DirectX, your Video Card's MOST recent Update, and another install of PJ64
