Newbie question- Project 64 wont recognize my USB controller or keyboard commands
Just bought a Sanwa usb joystick for this emulator. But no matter what I do, the first screen says no controller is connected. I have this problem even if I create and load keyboard settings. I have this problem on both Project64 and 1964. What can I do?
edit- okay, using Jabo's direct input, the emulator at least acknowledges the existence of the joystick. Under "configure controller plugin", there's a space at the top that lists and lets me select "USB Joystick".
But thats it. Once I'm in the game, the joystick is useless; nothing I do on it has any effect. The only way to play the game is by pushing enter for start, up down keys etc.
Please help, its probably something stupid I overlooked, and 10 words would solve the problem!

Make sure that the player 1 controller is marked as "Plugged in" in the Configure Controller Plugin window.

I'm assuming you've also configured the joystick, mapping its functions to the N64 controller functions you want to use?

Okay, figured it out! Once it recognized the joystick, I could start configuring. The directions popped up in Japanese which confused me a bit )I'm using a japanese OS) Thanks!
