Super Mario 64:the correct L to levitate code

In Super Mario 64, I had this levitate code that was very glitchy.
when i was under water,I'd automatically go to the surface,when I came out of a painting,I wasn't able to save(and L was not pressed at all).

here is an L to levitate code that has no glitches:

i just put that in my cheat console thingy and well it didnt work
can you tell me what i did wrong? i just copied the codes and pasted them in the console

Ummm... you didn't activate it. Cheats will only become active unless you activate them AFTER the ROM has loaded and the game begins. You can change this in the settings, and let cheats you check always be checked.

thanks, i didnt now they had a cheat for that in sm64.
