Need Help Big Time!!!

Uh... Here's my problem:

I got a laptop last August and it was working fine until I tried to install Windows Vista on it. While I was running Vista the first time it crashed and my mouse wasn't working so I tried to reinstall it. It clearly says "Windows Vista Capable", but unfortunatly when I reinstalled Vista I had to format my Hard Drive to NTFS so it had to erase everything off of the C:\ Drive permanently and the files refused to extract and I had to exit the installation. Upon doing so I had to reboot my computer. I did and I got the following error "BOOTMGR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL+ALT+DLT TO REBOOT" or something to that extent. So I tried to get a copy and recreate it onto a disc, set the boot mode of my computer to CD/DVD from the BIOS, but even then the installation failed. Now the DVD won't boot on my Laptop, while other things, such as Norton, will... My sister gave me this laptop because she didn't use it anymore, but she lost the recovery discs while doing so. It still boots and shows me the "ACER" logo and the option to get onto the BIOS, but because the C:\ files were erased, so were the internal backup options (Press ALT+F10 to Restore)...

The people at Acer are GENUINE @$$holes and told me I have to fork over 40 bucks if I want another recovery disc saying their software policy is only for 90 days and if I wanted then I could have them reset it for me for TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! Like anybody would actually do that.

HELP!

Do you have a copy of windows xp? You could put that back on.

Did you try to install vista again?

Yeah, I've tried Vista, but it won't boot... Other stuff boots, not Vista... As for XP, I don't know right now... I don't have a disc, but if I absolutely need it then I'll get it...
