7600GS overclocking

I have noticed that many people here owns a 7600GS, I want to know if you guys have overclocked it and how much. I'm currently testing it at 460 Mhz for the Core and 860 for the memory.

I own a 7600GS. It's an AGP-model, not PCI-e.
The brand is Club-3D, and it has active cooling and also an extra powerplug (standard molex).

Mine is currently running at 470MHZ core and 914MHZ memory and it's stable with a maximum temp under load of 55 degrees celcius. It idles at 34 degrees celcius.
No artifacts whatsoever when playing games or running 3d-mark.
From what I've read on the internet, I came to understand that many 7600GS don't go as high as mine, but maybe it's because most of them are with passive cooling and no additional powerplug?
It's running 2323 points in 3dmark '06, and exactly 4444 in '05. Quite nice if you ask me.

I also never overclocked with small steps at a time. I simply used the Coolbits registery setting (Click!) to unlock the factory overclocking tools in the NVidia classic control panel. Then I clicked the button "Detect optimal frequencies", at it came up with 460/900. I first tried it with those settings, and it was rockstable, so I added 10MHZ, both for RAM and VPU.

It seems my card limit is 488 for the core and 894 for the memory, and everything is quite stable (I get artifacts or instability if I try to go further) I haven't benchmarked with 3dmark yet...

Well, that's not a bad overclock at all!
Try and see if you can get the memory to clock higher when you let the GPU run a bit slower.
I've noticed that overclocking the GPU doesn't have much effect on the framerates in a game, while overclocking the memory gave me up to ten frames more in certain games.
You can check the actual framerate your games are running at with a small program called Fraps. With this program you can see how much you gained in actual reallife performance.

The "GPU" you're refering to is called "Core." You can overclock the core and the memory.

What does it matter if you call it "GPU" (Graphics Processing Unit), "VPU" (Visual Processing Unit) or "Core"? It's all the same.

It's not the same. GPU is the term of the graphics card - all components on the card together. The core is not the GPU. By overclocking the core and the memory, you overclock the card, the GPU.

Hmm, we're going slightly offtopic here, but I just wanted to say this:

According to this wikipedia-article (it's in Dutch) , the GPU refers to the actual chip, not the whole card.

"Een Graphical Processing Unit of GPU is een processor die gebruikt wordt voor alle videotaken"
In English that translates to:
A Graphical Processing Unit or GPU is a processor which is used for videotasks.

So, according to that article a GPU is not a videocard but just the processing chip.

I'm with Cerostimo with this one. Telling that the videocard is the GPU is like the people that pint to to the whole PC case and says "that's the CPU"

Then I stand for myself. Everyone says the graphics card is the GPU. Perhaps it's one of those misconceptions, but saying overclocking the GPU is like saying overclockig the graphics card, which means both core and memory.
