Corelating those SXXX #'s for the playstation

As many people know the SLUS SLPS etc. #'s for playstation games corespond to what the game is too Sony. Currently I have a nice list, unfortunately the list is not what I would like. Some games have multiple SLES versions (FF8 for example does) French British (German?) versions. The question is how can one distinguish the European versionns with different translations? (Imagine with a script as big as FF8's trying to make one that supported multiple translations.. that would add a 5th disk my guess ).
Apart from the game name has anyone a clue how to do so?

To my understanding, PAL games are always SLES or SCES and Sony hasn't put any different catalog codes for different language versions.
