"Cannot create directshow player"

I was trying to watch a trailer from gamespot. And I got an error... And then I tried to view other videos from other sites and I kept getting this error.

I'd say, without further details, a simple system restore.

It's been like this for a while. And I'm not sure when it started... I just thought of posting here today....

reinstall DX and update your drivers?

How would I go about reinstalling Directx... updated my drivers

do you have the latest?

To reinstall DirectX, place the CD in that has the DirectX that you wish to attempt to install and search that CD. Usually D: E: or Q: for Dxsetup. Once found, double-click and choose the option to reinstall. We do not recommend that you attempt to install a lower version of DirectX onto a higher version unless it is completely uninstalled.

To install DX, we have four options:
1) Install a newer update over an old.
2) Use system restore to bring back the system prior to when it was installed.
3) Use a dx uninstaller.
4) Modify the registry to make it "forget" what dx version is installed. I'd recommend the other alternatives first.
