    2 players.

    Is it true that you can't play with 2 players on Project64? Because I want to play with 2 players.

    You can have four players if you have enough gamepads.

    What do you mean? I'm sorry, I just don't know much. Do you have to buy gamepads because chances are my parents won't let me. Also, if there is a second player option, can someone tell me the controls?

    The controls are whatever you want them to be, via the input plugin configuration. You really should get some gamepads. Having two or more people crowded around a single keyboard is no way to play, not to mention that most keyboards won't accept multiple, simultaneous inputs.
