PSO / PSO v2 Key

Okay, I realize that in order to play Phantasy Star Online V2, I need a registration and serial key.



However, I haven't yet downloaded Phantasy Star Online v1. So I ask, do I need a key to play PSO, or do I not need anything for PSO1, just a key from it to run PSOv2 as if v2 is an expansion?

(I did use search to find out about the PSOv2 key thing)

Even if you get the key working, the game is really buggy, I have played it before on chankast, and it didn't look so good, the fps was really low too.
