go to options/emulator/save type and choose automatic before you play, also help going options/emulator/directories and choose a valid folder for yopur batteries and savegames.

thank you for your help, but this has now happened. I ran Pokemon Ruby and a msg comes up after the menu screan that says "The internal battery has run dry. the Game can be played but however clock based events will no longer occur" then it just goes back to the menu and keeps doing this over and over again, any ideas how to fix this?

Did you turn on real-time clock emulation? Options->Emulator->Real Time Clock

Kinda, you'll have to get VBA link

-Are there any GS codes on?
-Are you using the latest RDB?
-Is your ROM a good version? Get GoodN64 and GoodWindows and scan your ROM
