    Joystick Banjo-Kazooie pausing.

Hi guys, I am trying to complete Banjo-Kazooie 100%. However, there has been a very annoying problem while playing. Every 20 seconds-1 minute, the game will pause for 2 or 3 seconds, and then resumes. My framerate stays the same throughout. The pause affects both the game and the audio.

My computer can run PJ64 fine, With AA and AF maxed.

    Amd athlon xp 2700+
    1 gig ram
    Nvidia 5700 fx 256mb

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Change setting to Counter factor 3 and use TLB see if that smooths things out a bit.

4real is that a guess or you have some reason to think that helps?
i don't know what the problem is atm.

    ok some qs:

by "framerate stays the same throughout" do you mean the counter reads 60FPS even during these pauses?
do you have the speed limiter on (system menu)?
    which region ROM?

Smiff, yes my framerate stays at the 60fps cap the whole time, throughout the pauses. I have the limiter on, because if I turn it off I get 300+fps, and it gets funky. I am using the U.S. rom. I've heard of someone else having this same problem, but I still don't know how to fix it. O yeah, and syncing the audio would have no effect, seeing as both the game and audio pause.

    Thanks for any help.

I have the same prob with this game and yes changing the settings smooths the game out for me.

4real, does changing these setings affect the look of the game?

i'd suggest trying it, this game has had weird timing probs so anything's possible.

edit: yeah i was going to say, what PsyMan suggested below may work, as a workaround for the timing in pj64 (without azimer's fix integrated). although, if you enable sync game to audio, it shouldn't matter if the limiter is off? i can't remember, this stuff gets confusing.

I noticed that if you enable both the frame limiter and the "sync game to audio" option the game behaves normally. In any other case (if you enable only one of the options) it will either have sync problems or random pauses. At least that's what happens for me...

Wow thanks a ton Psyman. I tried your idea out and the game runs Uber smooth. Damn those empty honeycombs are hard to find.....
