Should i keep getting the pop up: BOOT and direct 3d creation is messed up?

i cant seem to get my game working it says boot forever and urder that soemthign about creation for 3d is messed up. what do i need to do?

either your are trying to run the video in REF (software) (check the in the video plugin config) or you are using drivers that aren't directX9 compatible (either old drivers or old card).

Please give more info on your system.
