Is There A Way To Convert A Project 64 Save To A 1964 Save?

I just started playing Majora's Mask and saved the game on Project 64 and I was wondering if I could continue playing it on 1964 using the same save without having to start over, I tried making a .pj save and loading it on 1964 but that didn't work and 1964 shutdown the game. Any help would be thankful.

1964 has a "Load PJ64 save state" option, but it's never worked for me. Native saves are cross-compatible though; just need to rename them.
