General Rom question

Hello all, I'm NOT here to ask for ROMS. But I have a question on what type of software is used for DC emulators? Does the emulators allow me to play official DC GD-ROMS on computer? Or is it that the games are burnt to regular CDs and then played on computer? I don't really get it. Thanx a lot.

GD-roms are incapable of being read by your cd/dvd whatever drive you have, I wouldn't know how to rip them but heres a handy link, http://www.google.com/ Seriously wish people would use that more.
