Basically, I need to know what to do to save games. I have everything running fine, it's just that when I close Chankast, I need to start the game over from the begining (obviously).
So, how do you save?

like you normally would with a dreamcast, reset the memory card then you off. You should make a new thread for this question you should of contiued from your previous one.
You can save using exactly the same method as used on a real Dreamcast.
You need a blank vms. The ones that come with Chankast are already full. If you don't know how to blank them, try searching this forum for an answer. If you can't be bothered blanking them yourself, then replace your existing vms files with the ones i have attached. They have already been blanked.

Now start your game and play until you are allowed to save. When you attempt to save, it should work now.
It won't work with the vms's which come with chankast because they are already full of saves.

PIV 3.2HT, 800Mhz FSB, Asus P4P800D, Radeon 9800 Pro 128Mb, SBLive 5.1 Platinum, 1GB DDR Ram, 2*120GB Seagate RAID, Jet4A Blower, 400W PSU, XP Pro Build 2600 SP2, LG Flatron 37" LCD, Logitech Z5500D 5.1
The VMUs that come with Chankast are not full, they simply are not formated. Just like a brand new real VMU.
Wow, thanks aika-san! Everything is perfect now! I really owe ya one.
Apologies. The ones I got were full of game saves on them. Maybe I got them from elsewhere. I dunno...Couldn't be bothered checking either.
Regardless, you can't save to them like they are.

Of course you can't, you have to format them first.
SPARTAN-III: Aparently you were to lazy to search but do it instead of posting next time.![]()
ya formattting them in the bios is the way to go
I was a bit confused as to what I had deleted from my vms files, and more importantly where they had come from, so I had another look at this. I downloaded Chankast Alpha v0.25 again and found a few interesting things out.
1. Chankast comes with no vms files, only the vmsbrowser.
2. By running the browser and clicking 'Write vms.bin', a vms file created. Now, upon loading the bios and accessing this vms.bin, I see that it is full of files. See the screenshot.
3. I could find no instance of a Format command (maybe I'm missing something). All there is for removing these files is the "Delete All (memory reset)" command.
So, that's where my confusion stems from.

well the vms.bin automatically is created the first time you run chaknast (atleast for me in 0.2a havent seen this in 0.25 as i started using 0.2a then found out 0.25 was availble)
