is it possible to use two keyboards on one computer for the purpose of multiplayer gaming?

When I'm playing the multiplayer option of a game, e.g. super smash brothers, diddy kong racing or conkers bad fur day, we both use the keyboard. The problem is that the computer sometimes beeps and when that happens one of us two has problems with their input (e.g. keeps moving to the right)...
