i've only taken one other psych test, and the counsellor (sp?) at my high school said it would be "unhealthy" for me to see the results. :( nasty old rag that she was.

i've always assumed that meant it was really high or really low, but 129 is just like mildly high, which is more what i assumed, other than that secretive wierdo lady's putting delusions of grandeur in my head.

heh, i trust no-one's taking this seriously, the conditions are far from scientific, just treat as something amusing and good for you, and don't worry what category it puts you in :)

btw the idea of an IQ is that average is 100 (right?), but again, don't read too much into this test (or IQ tests in general)

yep, 100 is supposed to be the iq of the average person. but with the scores were getting...id take the results with an extra large pinch of salt.

and im guessing the catergory came from which type of questions you get most right of. so if you do shit, then youll still get a grand title.

The thing I didn't like about this test is (time limit aside), it asks too many knowledge based questions. Namely for one, you had to know the pythagorean theorem, for several other you had to know english above the average person. Usualy internet tests inflate your score, but I honestly can't say what this one is doing, because its both easy and hard on different counts.

I don't know much about how to index an IQ score, but I always thought 120 was average.

EDIT: did a quick google search and found this:

100 The average IQ Score.
120 Smart enough to finish most college undergraduate level courses.
130 Entry level "genius" score.
140 Definitely genius level.
150 Less than 1/2 of 1% of all IQ test takers achieve this score or higher.

it doesn't suprise me that people are getting weird results. These web IQ tests aren't official, so an IQ test telling you that your {------------------} smart could be wrong, and you could actually be {--------} smart ;)

i think they beef up these scores to make you happy in order to buy more information too... some websites are a lot worse than emode though... depending where you go you will get ranging scores... although i don't think emode is too far off the mark, as long as you answer the questions honestley

About online IQ tests ---- whether good or bad, I was IQ tested 4 times while growing up (3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th grades) -- I never knew the scores until I was in college and my mom pulled them out one night. All I knew when I was growing up is that I was 'smart enough" to be in the "gifted program," which while not being as constructive as it should have been DID expose me to lots of things -- including computers of the 70's -- that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Anyway, point is, an online IQ test is worthless. In a real test your answers are timed, it takes a long time to finish, and there are multiple variables, not just your age and marital status (subtract 20pts for beng dumb enough to get married ... I'd be a SOOOOOOPer genius if she didn't burn out about a million of my brain cells every hour I listen to her talk) -- so if you did great here, just enjoy it but don't take it too seriously. If you flopped, its a crap test anyway.

BTW, when I was tested by real psychologists and all that, my scores for the 4 different tests all came out within 10 points of each other. They were higher than what I did here on this thing. Of course, I was a chronic pot smoker from age 16 to 33, so that might have affected me, but I doubt it.

but I highly agree about this test being innacurate, if I thought it was accurate I wouldn't have posted my results, because I would rather nobody know my IQ :P

In School I was assessed as being Genius level (top 1% of the UK population). Unfortunately I also had behaviourial problems which stopped me from learning as much as I could have done.

Nowadays I don't consider myself to be at that level anymore, however I did do the MENSA test once and scored highly.

seriously though I would expect the average IQ of people here to be someway above average, because a survey of users of an internet forum is not a random sampling of the total population.

wha?! no you dont, just take the test, and fill out the form (your email name and what not) and it'll send you your iq score to your email, the $13.99 thing is for what you could do for your iq.

I dunno what type I am, but I got 136, which is the same I've gotten on 6 other online IQ tests. I'd say it's fairly accurate, given that it's on the internet and there is no evidence of credibility.
