Azimer

The emulation "scene" has gotten be down lately and it makes it hard to work on my projects. It's full of flamers, haters, newbies, and all around crabby ass people. Look at all the topics in this forum. You will find one instance of stupidity and one instance of someone flaming. There are more flamers here then I know gay men. The flamers here aren't gay, but they are equally as bitchy. Give it up, close internet explorer, grab a soda, SOMETHING. Why must you rant a rave about each single thread and each single person? This has stretched furthur in to IRC as well. I use to be pretty good buddies with a lot of people associated with Emulation64, but lately, I can barely stand to talk in the channel. Everyone is just so bitter anymore. Liven up, go get laid, stop being so damn bitter. The conversation is so dry and off topic. Mostly about gays, people on E.T., other emu websites, or random helpme topics.
I guess this just means goodbye for the moment. I have begun a new life for myself lately. Today was the first time I had turned on my computer in days. I think I set a record actually. I was quite impressed. Mostly it was due to attaining a REAL social life and quite a bit was having better things to do then sit on IRC and have everyone ignore me in favor of bitching about other people. Yet another possibility is just not being interested in Emulation anymore. After Jabo and zilmar left, I had a hard time getting motivated. It still effects me today because they were the few people I could talk to about technical N64 topics and methods of implementation. That has long passed. I am going to part for an unknown amount of time, but I will not leave without giving something. I am giving schibo complete source to my Audio plugin, and bjz source to Apollo. This is goodbye... I don't know for how long but the scene sucks and I no longer want to be part of it.
Best of luck to Dominator and company of UltraHLE 2.0
Best of luck to schibo, rice, and icepir8. You have been great help.
Thanks to RatTrap for his design for Apollo's website. May he find what he is looking for on his trip.
Thanks to LaC for your limited but helpful advice and assistance.
Thanks to Martin64 for hosting me and being there for me, although he has suddenly disappeared. :(
Special thanks to Jabo and Zilmar... you guys were the best in emulation. I miss you both dearly.
Greetings go out to Aprentice, BonezMakJ, Qvuack, bjz, Dead_Body, kevtris, Jeremy Chadwick, reapern66, dabods, Luigi64, flow, DuDe, Redah, Lasly, F|RES, ZeZu, Zeenbor, subice, Phrodide, Crix0r, rcp, slougi, gentleman, Witten.
Last and certainly not least, thanks to the people who loved and respected my work. I love each and every one of you. Thanks.
If I forgot anyone, I probably don't know you, I don't like you, or you were a cause of all the problems. If neither is the case, then I apologize.
My last post for a long time on this godforsake forum,

Ah well... Goodbye Azi... You'll be missed :(

I think I'm going to cry... :(
But I agree with you, this forum is getting lame, and many n00bs and idiots are signing up to flame and F*cking up this nice forum.
I'm glad you giving your source to a n64 developer. (it's kinda opensourcing the stuff only for coders)

guess I was in the "don't like you" category, or maybe not, can't remember what our last... interaction was like. I know we had some misunderstandings from my warped SOH... one thing in common Azimer, was getting on great with Zilmar & Jabo, heh.
yeah you seem to be right about how things are, i'm mostly making OT posts or not visiting at all...

It is sad how things seem to have deteriorated here, Malcolm has left, RatTrap, and now Azimer! I'm sorta hoping I will wakeup and it has all been a nightmare - but yeah that's unlikely to happen.
Have fun Azimer, and thanks for all of the work you have done for emulation - you are a true star, have fun with whatever you are doing now :)

I totally agree with your comments about this forum... I've tried and tried to stop people flaming and bitching here over the last few weeks... We know who they are. I've also limited my visits and posts lately, not that i ever posted very much.
Good luck...

Bye Azimer.
Huge thanks for giving your source away rather than taking it hostage.
Amen to all that about people needing to get a life.. I want to point it out frequently but I realize it just causes trouble. Some people here need to stop taking things so incredibly seriously.

Farewell Azi !
I was on Efnet the other but you were away, too bad I wasn't able to talk to you before this departure.
You're someone pretty nice, I know you'll find something else to do.
I'm sure you took the best decision.

You know guys, this really sucks :(. There is like, almost no one left on th eemulation scene, and all because of stupid people! I don't mean to bah anyone, but all this just sickens me. I personally cannot code or program (I broke a plugin trying :;), but I want everyone who has ever contributed to emulation to know that you are loved and appreciated, espeically such greats as Azimer, Jabo, and zilmar. We all wish that you guys could stay, but with all that's going on, I think I'd like to leave to.... ( if i'd ever been there in the first place, but hey..... :;). Nice knowing you all!

Az, I agree with you fully. For a while, I was on emulation related things for an hour or more a day. It started when I got a P3 450mhz IBM PC used for $400CDN last September. I spent hours and hours trying to find a good configuration for Zelda:MoM, and thanks to PJ64, I was able to find it. After the novelty wore off, the scene started to get really boring. I still hung around alot, because I was still very interested in it, and someday hoped to code some sort of Emulator myself. But after a while, it just gets hard to stand all the stupid ass newbie posts & lame ass 13 year old kids flaming each other. So I left for a while. I came back when I got my current comp, and quickly got fed up with all the bullshit...and left again. It's nice to just take a break from it all once in a while.
Although I didn't talk to you ever [that I can remember], I'll still be sad to see you go. You were an icon of 64 emulation, and to date, I haven't found a better audio plugin for my specs. It sucks that you won't be updating it anymore, because although Schibo is great, he doesn't know your plugin anywhere near as well as you do. I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say...I hope you come back in the future. Take care.

you will be missed...but you know that they say, out with the old, and in with the new. you see, we are just entering the new wave of great emulation programmers. Those who have left us served there duty, and now its time for new programmers to take there spot.

mesman: That's true, but who can go without grieving at least a little over this? oh, the ones who use emus to play games without thinking about the people behind them. Man, this is really starting to make the scene look bad.. i miss the old days.. :(:(

October 29th, 2002, 08:07
lol, I remember when uhle was first released everyone was saying emulation scene sucks, to many lamers in now. It repeats it self. n64 emulation now seems to be really dieing .. hopefully uhle2 will bring it back to life .. but we will see .. lots of the best people involved in n64 emulation are now gone .. or not really doing that much as compared to before. God bless azimer.. Maybe some day I will meet you .. you never know ..

October 29th, 2002, 15:23
i think people don't release what a small group of people are responsible for most of the real progress that's happened... IMHO some of these people (who are leaving) are not actually replaceable, at least not with equivalents... having talked to these guys, they have a depth of knowledge that only comes from years spent performing black magic on the hardware, so it's a good thing most of the work has been done :)
mesman00
October 29th, 2002, 15:26
cooliscool: i agree with you, it is sad to see when of the great's leaving...but it happens, and it will continue to happen. in my opinion, we are coming closer to the dawn of a new era w/ next gen consoles. And the old days... i miss the days where snes9x was the biggest thing since cheese burgers.
oh, and i don't know if you were implying this or not (i don't think you were) but i don't use emu's without thinking of the people behind them, heck i don't use emu's at all, haven't had one in years...except when i played rockNES over the summer to beat mario3, but that has been long gone. i just love to follow the scene, and see the developments.
Martin
October 29th, 2002, 17:15
I agree with Smiff, very well put. However, I hope people will continue development, and we shouldn't forget that there are other systems that have quite a bit of work to do to get where the Windows guys have gone. And we're looking forward to it
(especially Linux) :)

this is real sad, too many ppl are leaving. azi has done a lot of work for the n64 emu scene, and will definitely be remembered as one of the great ones here. its just a shame he has quit at a time when lots of other ppl have left.
azimar, all the best in ur life, thank you for spending time with ur projects, congratulation on ur great work, and enjoy the freedom you now have. its a real shame, i know a lot of ppl were looking forward to apollo, and the audio plugins. anyhow, the forum may be a bit lame now, but its happened before, and then things get better, and then worse then better again. hopefully u will visit every so often, or at least in #emulation64. good luck dude :)

anyway, this is not the thread to talk about the issue, i just had to post this comment cos this is an example of some of the negative crap the et members hav to put up with. most of the time this is a great place to visit and read stuff. let it stay that way.

I'm sorry if I'm missing the point here, but I'm pretty fed up with people just leaving. I think we all agree that ET is going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment - which I why we all (staff, and members alike), need to sort it out, productivley, together. I don't see how running away from it all is helping anybody. In fact, no, it's not.

I feel I have to clear something up (I guess I lied. Not my last post). I am NOT NOT NOT NOT leaving because ET has more flamers then a gaypride prade nor am I leaving because of any people. I chose to use this as an expression of how badly the board and irc need to be fixed. I am leaving because of my social life is just a hell of a lot more interesting. Goku, you know I luv ya man. ;) I never said I would leave permanently. I may not return to write more code, but I will likely return in some fashion if nothing more then just an resident N64 expert.
