An anoyed good-bye.

During the past week We (the mods and admins of the board) have been discussing what has been going on in the board. I can no longer stand the idiotic crap that is going on here. I am sick of being brought into other people’s problems; I cannot stand people asking me to go against my colleagues. If you are having problems go talk to them, why do you have to talk to a power on the board to receive your results? RatTrap was leaving because his life has continued past the board now, continuing on with what he wants to do. He was leaving on good terms and would probably have returned from time to time to see how things were going. Now you people have made him post his LAST post, and a post ashamed at what he has seen displayed on the board.

I am sick and tired of seeing people that have been on the board for months completely go against the rules when they know them, it especially pains me to see Staff, Mods and at (very few) times Admins going against these rules.

This is the kind of messaging I receive every day:

This was a message I received from an EmuTalk member in the past few days. I censored out his/her name because I don’t want that person singled out, that person is only a contributing factor.

The main point to this message is I will no longer be part of moderating this board, and will most likely never visit it again. The way this board has progressed is shameful. At times in the past there were actual intelligent conversation throughout the message board, now there are only flame fests, out dated information, or an attempt to get attention.

I (hopefully) will still retain the email address Malcolm@Emulation64.com , and I can be reached there. You can also contact me on one of the instant messaging services I’m registered under; you can see my call names in my profile. If people abuse this I will simply change my Ids. I will still be on IRC, but will never join #Emulation64 ever again. I'd advice the bot holders of Emulation64 to remove me from their bots as it could be a security risk, or take off my global op and replace it with a voice.

Look back at the posts for the past 2 months. You can see a downward trend. Can you track your posts? Are they in the proper category? Are they on-topic? Are they asking for anything illegal? Flames? If you have answered yes to any of these question you are a contributing factor to me leaving.

The “straw the broke the camels back” has been an accumulation of #Emulation64 on EfNet (IRC) and the constant private messages I have received VIA instant messaging clients and the PM service of EmuTalk.

I don't know what has happened with RatTrap, but needless to say I hope no one gave him any aggravation. He along with you, was genuinely one of the good guys (along with all other Admins come to that).

it's not the Noobies, it's the vets that he said are the trouble these days with the flame fests and such. And I agree. just look at some of MY posts near the bottom of threads that urge people to go back on topic. it's just pure recockle. sure we all spam but it shouldn't be at the level it's at. And when it causes us to loose a key member in the comunity then it's just sad:(

so grow up people, no emulator is greater than another just because it runs more games, so if that what the flames are about then knock it off. also Linux and MS and Apple wars need to stop too. yah MS bashing is fun and the pics are halarious but when it turns into "my os is better than yours" it's just rediclous.

moving on to consoles. we ALL know X-box sells less than the others but it DOES have some good games and if people like those games then LET THEM LIKE THEM!!!! this isn't Kindergarden where you're toy is better than the next guys. and like i said before, the term "fanboy" is what starts most of these flame fests. ALL consoles have GREAT games that are EXCLUSIVE so who CARES what the numbers are.

as soon as everyone stops wanting to be better than everyone else MAYBE we can go back to having the conversations this board used to have.

there has been extra heat lately... i'm not sure that is the answer to "clean up" the forums or whatever.... maybe it's just a pissy time of year... i can understand that personally.... but if the forums are getting to be a drag, just don't check them as often.

oh, and that very good debate between me alpha and rattrap didn't need to be closed... it was over anyway! besides most posts were civil, interesting on topic, and basically over all more of the kind of thing that i think needs to be on boards everywhere..... but whatever.... it's moot regarding that one anyway, and i'm not bitter...

Personally I actually was enjoying it on that scope too... guess it wasn't to everyone's taste though and should've died after the first "bored now". Oh well... no one is forced to read after all.

No offence at all to Malcolm but I only knew of him vaguely so I can't comment except to say seeing a goodbye post from a long-timer always sucks, rattrap I'll miss for his rather wonderful debate posts, and Azimer, well, it truly is sad that the scene has lost some great coding skills and that emutalk is pretty much losing one of its best topic posters at the same time. Lot of respect due to him for that, and for handing on his work to others. Kudos.
All the favourites are gradually vanishing, I'm just hoping Icepir8 doesn't vanish... some of us still have a lot of love for TR-. ;)

I never really post in this forum often, but I've respected the people behind the emulation scene for many years now. I've seen people leaving because of these sad actions of some people who just join the emu scene. But sometimes I ask, how MUST these places be in an ideal situation?
