Rambus Memory (RDRAM/RIMM) was designed by a company called none other than Rambus, it was adopted mostly by intel processors & chipsets. Its insanely fast, much faster than DRR, it was actually out before DDR, but never caught on due to the fact that it is insanely expensive (Rambus had a patent on the design and only they could make it, but now they are in a lawsuit that may prove they had no such patent). Most motherboards stuck with 32pin PC133 until DDR was developed. It was a stupid idea to patent it and then raise prices so high that nobody could afford it and is leading to their demise.

For maximum speed swap the parhelia with a r9700. My emphasis is more on the iq side of things.

RD ram is not that expensive right now, it costs roughly the same as DDR400, the season RD ram is much faster is the fact that intel uses duel channel RARAM.

Well, I havent checked in a while but it used to be extremely expensive, and now nobody uses it. SO even if the costs are down now, too little too late.
