okay this is bugging me a bit. everything seems good, but when i go to hardware propteries it says i hav a 1.25ghz athlon (doesnt even mention the XP part). on my bro's pc, it states thaat its an 1800xp.
im guessing it could be a few things:
1) motherboard lists it as a 1.25ghz athlon (maybe cos it wasnt around when the XPs were released, although it supposedly can support up to 1800ghz (XP 2000 is like 1.6ghz)), when everything is fine, and if i used another propgram, ill see something else. or maybe i need to update the bios.
2) ive got an old cpu and hav been ripped off. i doubt this tho cos its a retail amd athlnon XP 2000+ and came with an official fane (which was a bastard to install).
i think thats it. :)

are the fsb and multipliers correct? and actually, the xp2000 runs @ 1.8ghz, xp1800 @ 1.6ghz. You get the idea.

When is the last time you updated the mobo bios?
The motherboards released before the existence of the Athlon XP need a bios upgrade to use these procs. You bios ignores that the peer rating exists.
Tilt: what is the FSB? is it set to 100? (old athlon have 100MHz DDR FSB (-->200). newer ones have a 133 DDR FSB (-->266)).

thats actually incorrecy. athlon xp 1800 runs at 1.54 gfz (my brother has one) and athlon xp 2000 runs at 1.67 ghz. i tihnk either 2200xp or 2400xp runs at 2.0ghz.

whoa, my MSI GF4 ti4200 overclocks like a bitch. i can have it stable (and cool) at 300 for the core, and 600 for the memory. i believe that is above ti4400 levels. and the fps are just mad, i can get just about 100fps on quake 3 at max settings with quin. FSAA.
i would advise anyone who gets a new chipset to update their drivers, cos before i got the latest 4in1 drivers from via, it was running about 20% slower.
im a bit anxious about using the 40.41 drivers. from wat ive heard there a LOT of issues. and the xtra performance is only noticeable in 3dmark2001, which is not a game, so who gives a shit. im using the 30.32 or sumthing like that. i hav one issue, which im not sure is driver related or not. in gta3, the gfx are complete blocks, its real odd. ive got the latest patch, and it does fuk all. dunno, any ideas ? ???

Try reading the GTA3 readme file! Here is the link you want anyway, here is what it fixes as well:
The Computer Cannot Enter Standby or Hibernate
If a Direct3D-Based Screen Saver Is Running (Q306676)”:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Patch/Q306676/WXP/EN-US/Q306676_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe
This patch also updates D3D8.dll which fixes the yellow blocky text issue.
