about bad roms

in the manuals and whereever, they always tell you to check your roms if they are good as if a bad rom is a virus or something. so i just wanna know what could bad roms really do to your computer? would they just hang up or would it have something worse?

lol dude :) bad roms cant do that, bad roms are ones that arent dumped properly or arnt emulated. Some1 could probably infect a rom with a virus, but over 4 years of in the emulation scene, i have never come across one

so what happens when we use a badly dumped rom? it won't run? graphics bad or something?

usually you will end up getting errors, fortunatley there is a rom renaming utility, based on the crc of the rom it names it by its country code [u],[e] or [j] [!] and then if you see something like [h1] you know its been hacked and could be a bad rom
