Now I await for comments. And mesman00, they did just like with DOOM I and Wolfenstein. They just made a conversion of the PC version for GBA, so they don't really change the graphics.

WAIT!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS A LAST NEW!!!!!!!!!!!
IT IS RECENT NOW!!!!!!
Rareware has lost the rights of Donkey Kong and will go to a third party for Nintendo. You can check that it is true in the Webpage of www.rareware.com , where they don't say anything else about DK coconut crackers and Donkey Kong racing (the GC version)

Wow, nice pics Anchel....but shouldn't you post them in the GBA forum instead? I mean, this place is already flooded ... a bit stuff over in the other forum won't do any harm, would it?
Anchel
August 8th, 2002, 23:29
The other forum is for GBA emulation, not about GBA in general.
That forum should be used like an emulator forum. Here, more people will surely see them too.
If you want any more pictures, I might be able to post some more tomorrow

/me sighs
everytime I see a thread like this I think to myself, finally resolution to these rumours
but no
in reality the lack of DK games on the rareware site is more an indication of Nintendo's current policy on 2002 intended release games only
why doesn't Nintendo deny these rumour if they aren't true (well the reps keep saying, "same old same old") it makes Rare a hot property, especially after the burial the N64 helped to perform on them after Goldeneye, and they only remained a name for the eyes of the hardcore gamers, and if they are going third party then this silence helps Rare just as well
besides wait until Starfox is released (or 2003 or 2004.... ;) )

How about Golden Sun 2? It looks kick arse in the screenies I saw... Don't know about you but it looks a ton better than Golden Sun.
Anchel
August 10th, 2002, 12:48
Golden Sun 2 has better graphics in some aspects, and I've seen a Djinn that makes the background a big ball (looks 3D) and throughs it to the enemy that looks great in graphics

sorry, it doesn't look "ton better" than part 1 - dude .... I've got the japanese version and if you go to the GBA forum, I've even posted a few screenies usin't VBA .... there are a few new attacks apart from that it looks the same! Unfortunately I don't know any japanese but still I could manage to get quite far in the game... the "world" in GS2 is bigger and you play with "new characters" but that's all - a bit dissapointing

Golden Sun: The lost age is not exactly another game. It's the continuation of it (did I say that right in english?), like in Final Fantasy, where you have to change the CD, but Camelot wants to get the most money of it, so he sells the games separately. But it still has some improvements. It includes new smileys for the characters, new animations for them, more detailed graphics for the battles, new djinn invocations (you can mix 'em), bigger world map, etc.
I don't think it's dissapointing at all. All that makes me more enthusiastic with Golden Sun series.

ANOTHER NEW!!!!!!!!!
Kodak is now making retroiluminated LCD screens for PDAs, cell-phones and...........GBAs!!!!!!!!
But that's not still sure, since there is only a GBA picture in the Kodak homepage, where it says about the LCD screens. We still have to wait for news from both ndo and Kodak.
KingTom
August 13th, 2002, 01:28
i saw that stuff in he television those screens are firetrucking awesome man
they use types of light made by bioluminescent animals(jellyfish, etc).
the resolution looks like an HDTV but it's only as thick as a CD and the size of a credit card(not the GBA screen)
the main drawback to the current version is
: Limited Colour Gamut

All the screenshots look fantastic .... unfortunately of course the actual games won't look half as good as that on an actual gameboy. As good as GBA is, the display is a major letdown. My kid doesn't seem to mind, but my 35 year old eyes don't think its worth the trouble.
I know all about the new Afterburner internal light modification thing -- I also know its really tough to install the included antireflective film without making bubbles on the screen. Still, I'm thinking about it.
According to a story I saw at nintendojo.com, Nintendo will be releasing an improved screen version of GBA maybe by year's end, which will have improved display and the return of the contrast control. But still not lighted. WTF?
Nintendo still claims that battery consumption is too great to justify the lighted screen. It seems they've never heard of rechargeable battery packs. After all, they don't make a rechargeable battery pack - you have to buy aftermarket.
GBA games look great on my 19" monitor, though.:D

Still no pics for Metal Slug: Survival Mission, it's just a confirmation from the company that made it
Anchel
August 16th, 2002, 22:10
The bad thing of this metal slug is that it will most surely be really short, like the other ones in the series, wich were good 'cos you couldn't waste as many lives as you wanted, with the exception that you could be REALLY RICH, unless they add a save function and more levels, if you know what I mean

I've been collecting more pics and news. When I get some more, I'll post them together. They are pics of a new 3D racing game, comix zone and the first ever 3rd person view 3D game for GBA (with a GTA gameplay)

Hi guys, I bought a GBA magazine days ago and I felt shocked when I read the first preview page. The AGB Games (a society that builds 3d engines for many consoles) is working on a graphic engine (for GBA) called WFR (Wall/Floor/ceiling Render) and it will be used to run....QUAKE!!!!!!! This fantastic engine allows the game to run from 30 to 60 fps! in closed or opened environments, it supports intelligent collisions between objects, transparency, animated textures and light sourcing in real time! It's unbelievable i think, but there are also screen shots! (and they looks fu***ng great!) They already completed the first quake level.. so it's a BIG work in progress.. I'm dr00ling.. :!!!:
:inlove:
P.S. I dunno if someone else talked about it before, I've been away for a while in this month.. (vacation you know ;) )
Stezo2k
August 24th, 2002, 17:10
whoa cool! u got any shots of it? imagin a gr8 FPS for gba like UT, that would rule :) Btw i seem to recodnise the name juggz, did u used to use direct connect?
Stez
JuGz
August 24th, 2002, 17:45
errr no sorry i don't have sshots on my pc right now, but they are on the magazine, maybe i'll scan the page later, btw it looks like Quake without glide/opengl support! (in software mode) it's the same!!
I used DC sumtimes but my connection sux ??? so it's useless for me.. I don't think it was me though :)

I posted long ago the first pictures of Quake for GBA (http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?threadid=5085&pagenumber=3). I was about to post the newest pics (with the characters) when I found that you had already posted a link to the AGB games webpage.
Still, you know that I'll do as possible to keep you informed of the newest GBA games.

August 24th, 2002, 22:56
Damn, those Quake screenies look great. I wonder how well will the hardware handle this game when it actually comes out.
JuGz
August 25th, 2002, 00:07
well They assure that the first level jumps from 15 to 60 fps, and they will improve it (to 30-60fps), so that's a good start ;)
Anchel
August 25th, 2002, 02:04
As far as I know, they're still NOT developing that game. They are using it just to try their 3D engine. If you go to AGB games' webpage, you'll see a poll where you can vote for the game you want them to develop first. AFTER THAT, they will see if they get the rights to port Quake to GBA.
I'm sorry to dissapoint you.
Jaz
August 25th, 2002, 19:05
I saw an early GBA port of Quake that ran at something stupid like 5fps. Looked nice, though. :P
Anchel
August 26th, 2002, 20:51
I'm hoping for a 3D plataformer like Mario 64 (of course, with worse graphics)
JuGz
August 27th, 2002, 01:09
I've heard that they will make quake for sure, trust me because they sure ill! That poll is another thing!:colgate:
Anchel
August 27th, 2002, 12:10
And in the poll, the GTA style is winning. That's why I posted the screenshots of that game. They have already decided.
