Answer the question.
My favourite one is The Simpsons.

My God, yeah the one where you could be Marge, Homer, Bart or Lisa. That was amazing - Is there an arcade emu that runs it???

Anchel
August 7th, 2002, 13:05
Nope, but there is a PC version of that game
It's not more than 1 megabyte, since I had it in a floppy disc (or what you call it in English). You can try to download it somewhere.

I remember when I used to work at Mazios, just before closing we'd get all our work finished early, open up front pannel, and hit the coin button on Area 51 to give us 1000 free games. We'd spend all night playing it. My manager was a pro, none of us could beat him.

well.. my true favorite.. would be space invaders :D..

http://www.klov.com/S/Space_Invaders.html

then the one that's actually ever become the most famous game on arcade.. is street fighter II(various versions)..

http://www.klov.com/S/Street_Fighter_II_-_The_World_Warrior.html

then we have the after y2k arcade games.. i would say is walk the dog

http://www.highwaygames.com/products/walk_the_dog.php

then we have the category of.. hmmm.. the future :p.. the big N will have a big anouncement if everything goes like it should sometime by the end of this year or maybe sooner.. and i'm pretty sure that well.. all you zelda fans.. and metroid fans will go completly nutz :p..

btw.. klov.com is probably one of the biggest arcade lists online.. seeing as most newer ones don't have all the oldies.. wich this one kind of does :)..

There was a game (of wich I don't remember the name) that I liked a lot, where you controlled the Punisher and Captain Fury.
If someone knows the name, please tell me!

those aren't errors. happens on the arcade also. probably due to limitation of the actual arcade hardware.

WOOOOW!!!!!!!!!! How many characters can you use at the same time?

Anyway, thanks for the pics, dude. I'm thinking of downloading it

i love old arcade games, im gonna start downloading em again, whats the best arcade emu? i used to love Mame32, but now whats best.

also, do arcade emu's have save states or not?

cooliscool
August 8th, 2002, 20:50
It depends on the system, mesman. if your going for cps-1, 2, neo-geo, then kawaks is best (it supports save states.) if you're looking for oooooooooooooold games like pac-man, mame32k. not sure if it supports savestates. if you wanna play street fighter ex 2 +, strider 2, etc. get ZiNc, it truly kicks ass

mesman00
August 8th, 2002, 21:00
thanks cooliscool, will kawaks play all the older games too, or it doesn't emulate that hardware?

DuDe
August 8th, 2002, 21:07
Kawaks does CPS-1,2 and Neo-Geo.
Nebula does the above, plus PGM, which has Knights of Valor, and another system with Konami games.
MAME does all of the above, plus a shitload of other arcade games.

cooliscool
August 8th, 2002, 21:13
not ALL of the above. i mentioned zn-1, zn-1, and namco system 11 emulator, zinc, too. :) mame technically emulates them, they just arent "activated" in the current binary versions, it's all in the current source though ;)

ClrMamePro (http://www.clrmame.com) can do all sorts of things. I've used it for merging and unmerging larger rom sets, and I know it can update roms when necessary (as MAME is updated). Don't know if it can fix bad sets, but there are a number things I haven't explored yet in the interface.

MAME itself can also tell you whats bad/missing, but it can't fix anything. Not sure what the switch is for the command-line version, but in MAME32 it's "File\Audit all games."

there are to many good games available on mame to single them out. so just download games based on your favorite manufacturer (you can sort your game list by manufacturer if that helps).

once you find a good source to download your mame roms (find a site that has a complete mame0.61 romset) then choose a manufacturer and get as many roms as you can.

try downloading every game developed by Irem:
-GunForce II
-In the Hunt
-Ninja Spirit
-Kung-Fu Master (the arcade version of the classic game "kung-fu" on nes)
-Vigilante (the sequel to kung-fu that no one's ever heard of)
-Dragon Breed
-R-Type
(just an example)

for those of you who dont know, Irem is a group of developers that later formed Nazca (wich is were Metal Slug came from)

make sure that your roms are named correctly, and never rename them!
if you download...say mortal kombat II (rev 3.1) the rom must be named mk2.zip in order for mame to read it.
all mame rom files you D/L should be named properly and if they're not then dont D/L them!
bad dumps are very un-common if you always use a good source for your files.
