The New Tetris lagging :(

Hi i just got the new tetris and i seem to be having a problem. when there are several gold or silver blocks on the screen and i go in for a 4 line kill the fps drop to 10ish they are normally at 50 and it lags really bad. i have a decent machine dual core intel 1.8 2gb ram 4850 radeon etc. so hardware is not the issue. i have tried other emulators 1964 and i have also tried to change the graphics plugin from jabo 1.6 to 1.5 (this makes the game run too fast)

please let me know any ideas that you might have
