I found out a way for dolphin to work on mac and it is tested.
But you need to get the program called crossover.
IT converts the exe to .app so you can play it
and it is a lot faster than the windows build.
50 FPS with dualcore off
THe bad thing is that the padsimple plugin doesn't load
This was only tested on build 144
(google for crossover)

EDIT: In order to use the pad plugin, download and install 1.0.3 beta 2 using crossover and replace padplugin.dll from the beta to the svn
(i am using an intel mac)
Good Luck

Could you play brawl on Dolphin since it uses the gamecube controller?

If you mean Super Smash Bros. Brawl, then no. No Wii game can go ingame as Wii compatibility hasn't gone very far as yet after their intros(if any), and especially with Brawl, you just get a "Please insert game disk" screen and then it just sits there, so sorry 'bout that.

The Wii games would seem to be playable and go in-game if there was some kind of Wii controller plugin support.

Probably so, but developing and even implementing that kind of technology will take a long time, especially since gamecube emulation isn't perfect yet.

There is a program on PC called Xpadder. Try that for your gamepad.

Dolphin Works On Mac
And yet, no one cares.

XPadder will not add Wiimote support to the emulator.
