From dailyradar.co.uk (!!!)
"(GC) New Zelda Director's Cut for Gamecube! 22-4-02 10:13
Ocarina of Time to be remade for Gamecube, complete with new dungeons, the unreleased 64DD Ura Zelda expansion, bonus features and more
Sounds too good to be true, but Dutch website gamers.nl has translated the latest issue of Dengeki magazine (which we haven't seen in the Games Radar office yet) and found an announcement regarding a special edition dirrector's cut of the superb action RPG.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto stated a couple of years ago that something he would like to do on Gamecube would be farm out special editions of previous titles, including N64 games, to young, up-and-coming producers, in order to train them to make future big hits.
Anyway, assuming it's all true, here's what the special edition package will contain:
Disc 1
Zelda Director's Cut
Ura Zelda previously unreleased dungeons
Option for Classic overworld or N64 theme
Option for enhanced graphics or original graphics
Disc 2
Making of movie
Disc 3
Music CD
Limited edition includes cloth map of Hyrule, pocket watch, art book and one of three character figures. "
F-CK!
Quite whether it`s entirely true or not is another matter... the remarks were made about a year ago that Ura Zelda was finished - after the 64DD was known to be a faliure... and Miyamoto did state that he`d like to release it as a directors cut. I always figured this might be the idea, but I guessed it was thought of before the N64`s untimely demise and forgot about it. Ocarina of Time AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE?! WOOHOO!
*Stalkid64 gets excited!*

Er... read that again. gamers.nl
The `news` is on www.cube-europe.com too. I`m being extremely skeptical, but it does fit with a lot of talk I`ve heard, as well as interviews. Perhaps the SW2K version graphics were sidelined for this remake? Miyamoto did say once over that the SW2K1 version graphics were for the NEXT Zelda game... which the remake technically wouldn`t be. Hmm. Heck I just hope it happens so I can slot Ura Zelda into the timeline after Ocarina and have the new Zelda as Zelda 10. (Because, lets face it, that would be cool.)

holy shit that would be sooooo fucking sweet!! I'd chip a cube and import it just for that ;)
it also makes sense, Nintendo spent a lot of effort developing tools to port N64 games to the cube, and the only titles that have come out of that so far are Doshin and Animal Forest with StarFox (basically a new game) and Biohazard Zero (looks like it uses the engine used for the Resi 1 remake) in the works, so this would make sense too
it's also clever because it keeps two camps happy, with a new style cel shaded Zelda and the old style :D

I`ll still take new Zelda over old if it comes down to it though ;)
Mmm... new Zelda... (*Homer drooling noise*)

Like I was saying on IRC just a few minutes ago, Squaresoft did the same thing with Final Fantasy Anthologies and Chronicles and look how stupid that turned out. I don't think this will be much better.

Well, Square just added 3 videos to FF6 and left the same old graphics/music. This thing sounds like a more worthy effort :)

Substitue FMV-over-gameplay Squaresoft for The Almighty Nintendo. Substitute a lame ass FF game for the all-encompassing work of art that was Ocarina of Time... only with the 2nd half fixed as it was meant to be, and the graphics reworked. How could that EVER be a bad thing, hmm? ;)
Plus... is anyone else thinking "Triforce quest back in"..? :)

Just an opinion here, Squaresoft kicks your almighty Nintendo's ass. Nintendo makes good games, but they can't compare to Squaresoft.

Square and Nintendo have both found the holy grail of game formulas in their time, a game formula which if repeated people will still buy, the difference is Nintendo have tried to improve upon these formulas they have whilst Square have just made their singular formula look nicer
and I'm being honest if they remade FF7 in a similar way as Capcom have remade Resi 1 I would buy it.

here's the thing. Square has the best looking graphics out there. Nintendo Has the best game play in Zelda. bring them togather and what can happen. imagine a zelda game with Square graphics. i know this will NEVER happen but think about it. or imagine a FF story with Zelda gameplay.

I have to say the opposite, Square has better gameplay and storyline, Nintendo (until FFX) has the better graphics. And nobody can dispute Nobou Uematsu is a musical genious.

Mario RPG still felt like a Mario game (it was designd by squaresoft).
but then again i have no reason to complain about Zelda's action style, Link To The Past had awsome gameplay, as did OOT

The news are pretty much fake I've heard from Planetgamecube.com staff....it wasn't mentioned in the dengeki magazine that they claimed and so on....however it MAY be true, it would be cool, but don't get your hopes up...
Just have a look at the planetgamecube forum and see for yourself....the lock everything that has with the thing to do and say that it's fake....besides, the site that claimed it first (?) computerandvideogames.com or something has reported fake news before afaik:cry:

WRONG.
FF has no actual game play, its only management. Management of inventory and stats, and Management of Party during battles. Zelda on the other hand, had always had gameplay.
Just compare boss battles.
Zelda: consist of shooting here, dodging that, bombing here, block that, slash like mad, repeat.
FF: cast very damaging spells, attack, attack, wait, wait, wait(theres moments where no one does anything), take massive damage, heal if needed, repeat.
On the other hand, Square always had great graphics (please note the beautiful prerendered scenery). although, Zelda OoT did have great effects, it cannot compare to the many works of art that is the FF backgrounds.
so if i had a choice, I'd take Zelda gameplay, and square in charge of all art.

I'm the ign "Fan-Boy" he was talking about :P
Fran who runs the IGNcube website has recently posted on the ign message boards stating that although he believes a zelda re-make of sorts is in the making, the news that is all over the internet is false. Degenki did not have any such news in the latest edition. Sorry to dissapoint you but the 3disc set for the moment is still a rumour.

OK so the news is false then, before this gets any further into a Square vs. Nintendo battle, I think its time to end it. The fact is Zelda and Final Fantasy are both awesome games and its all a matter of personal preference.
