I just recently bought a new computer. I've used Dolphin before on my old laptop (which didn't go over very well... it's not the greatest). But what are the chances that I'll be able to run Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker full speed no problems on this setup?:

- Intel C2Q Q6600 @ 2.7GHz
- XFX Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 512 (G92)
- Soundblaster X-Fi Xtremegamer
- 4 gigs of A-Data DDR2-800 (2 x 2 gig sticks)
- Windows XP 64-bit

Thanks!

Chances: Good.

Although all that really matters is that you have a dual core CPU as well as a 64-bit operating system.

Hmm Wind Waker is running at 5-6 FPS. Yet I can run Crysis at high settings, 1680x1050. lol. What am I doing wrong? I've got the latest x64 beta and Windows is 64-bit. Is dual-core not enabled or something?

Never compare PC game performance and emulation performance. The two aren't the same thing.

Do you have the x64 version of Dolphin and do you have dual core optimizations enabled in said emulator?

I get fairly good speed on WW yet nothing astounding.

Outside I get between 12 - 15 FPS and indoors such as grandmothers house I get 35 FPS.

35 FPS seems too fast for this game for some reason.

Also it seems although the game runs on average between 12 and 15 FPS for me it is still a bit faster than say a PS2 game running on PCSX2 or a PC game running at the same speed.

Note: I only played up to where link gets the telescope, when I go to receive the telescope the controls become entirely unresponsive yet the emulator or game doesn't freeze or crash.

:Edit: My specs are in my signature and I'm using Dolphin Beta 3 on Windows XP Professional SP2 x64.

I was already aware of the telescope bug, but was a bit misinformed. By the way everyone was making it sound was that the game/emulator completely crashed as soon as you looked through the telescope.

I didn't know that the emulator doesn't crash in the sense I originally thought, but the controls become unresponsive as soon as you receive the telescope (And not look through it).

Btw I updated my last post pointing to where my specs are located, the Dolphin Build I am using and my operating system.

The problem is that the game wait for an Sound input.. and theres the problem because dolphin cant emulate sound yet! And therefore it stucks there.
If you use a bypassing Savestate then you can use the Telescope.

Is the emulator known to crash at any other point in the game or is this pretty much the only part?

I've already played through and beat this on my Gamecube but thought I would give it a try via emulation. It's a great game except for some reason the dungeons seem a bit short/easy when compared to previous Zelda games and even the Gameboy/Gameboy Color Zelda's

I thought I would post back and say that isn't just a telescope related bug so I don't know why it has been dubbed so.

I think it happens with nearly any item you pick up.

Before going to get the telescope I saw beedles shop ship and got some rupees to get the bait bag. As soon as I got the rupees and got the bait bag it did the same exact thing as with the telescope.

So I don't think it's just a telescope related bug.;)
