Save State extension and location?

On OS X, what is the default save state extension and location? I am posting for a friend and we cannot find this information, even teh googlez didn't help. sorry for my n00bness and thanks.

Sorry pepz, there's not too many Mac users around here I guess. I can tell you that in the Linux build, the save game files are stored in the 'save' sub-folder. There are 2 different extensions - .eep for data would be stored internally on the N64 console, and .mpk for the data that goes on the expansion packs that plug into the controller.
