my favourite quote:
Mr Burnham said the price drop was of such magnitude it was almost like a relaunch
hehe :D
I'm completely unsurprised by this, except Nintendo to cut prices when Sony does and Sony will do so soon undoubtably

I would say sucked in to all the people who bought it before the drop but M$ are trying to keep these people as customers
"Mr Bowman said the price drop would take effect on April 26 and any customers who had already purchased the Xbox at full price would receive $250 worth of Xbox products as a gift."

er, somebody can't count
399-100=299 i.e. still twice the price of the GCN. unless the typo was in a different place, meaning -200 and presumably entitling you to four free games and two free controllers. The third option is you all wasted £100.

Smiff...its Austrailian dollars. im not sure what the conversion rate is but the article said its the same price as GCN (why is N at the end?).

In several currencies, this is what's happening:

XBOX game € 69.99
GameCube € 269.00 (€ 249.00 was suggested retail price)
GameCube game € 59.95
In US dollars, that translates to:
XBOX from $ 427.65 to $ 266.39
XBOX game $ 62.36
GameCube $ 239.68 ($ 221.86 was suggested retail price)
GameCube game $ 53.41
In Aussie dollars, that translates to:
XBOX from $ 790.91 to $ 492.76
XBOX game $ 115.32
GameCube $ 443.25 ($ 410.29 was suggested retail price)
GameCube game $ 98.77
In GB pounds, that translates to:
XBOX from £ 295.28 to £ 183.94
XBOX game £ 43.05
GameCube £ 165.48 (£ 153.17 was suggested retail price)
GameCube game £ 36.87

Did you use a currency converter for that? Coz I know that the Australian prices are wrong. The xbox was $650 (well, still is ATM) and is going to $400. The games are $99. That will make it the same price as the GC and its games.

In US dollars, that translates to:
XBOX from $ 427.65 to $ 266.39
XBOX game $ 62.36 :
the xbox launched here at $299
games retail at $49 US Credit
i guess the US is getting the cheaper systems

I was just making it easier for people in other countries to understand. I took the Euro prices (that's what we were discussing, the European price drops) and then converted that to other currencies, so they get an idea of what we actually pay for the consoles here.
Ofcourse every country has different prices due to import costs, taxes, VAT, etc.
