1964 won't work

Whenever I click a rom to start it, it loads and at the bottom says it's initializing DirectX device and in a couple seconds an error message pops up and says error to start video. I'm using XP by the way.

What video-plugin are you using? and what graphics card?

Get Pj64 then. It works better than 1964, in my opinion.

well...

im quite new to 1964 but ive used project64 for a while

in my opinion, i think u should use project64 coz its much easier and there are a hell of a lot of guides to get u working

Make sure you have an up-to-date DirectX installation and graphics drivers. Failing that, åsabo has already asked my next question(s).

What's with all the "PJ64 is better" responses? It's not "better" than 1964 and 1964 isn't "better" than PJ64. Each one does some things better than the other and each one does some things worse than the other. A problem is causing 1964 not to work, so why not fix the underlying issue rather than run to another application that might just exhibit the same problem?
