The Legend Of Zelda : The Windwaker

Using the Dualcore build with dynarec enabled, specs in my sig.

The game runs pretty solid with lows of about 15 and highs of about 30.

Wario World

Using the Dualcore build, with Dynarec disabled.

The speeds are a solid 15fps.

Please note this game appears full playable other than the screen not running in fullscreen and the fact it must be run in interpretor mode.

Sonic adventure 2 Battle:

Specs:
CPU - Intel C2D E6600 (2.4 GHz)
GPU - GeForce 7900 GS
RAM - 2GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400

About 30 - 60 FPS averages in the low 50's
For the most part fully playable. Sound works fully, Sound effects, not so much.

Note: The game kept crashing on city escape, but on dark side, it worked fine.

Great Job!

Absoluetly MEGA guys! I had a feeling dual core and 64bit support would be the missing link towards better speeds but these type of results are even better than I imagined.

I'm just waiting for a reply from someone with a quad-core. All in all not exceptionally surprising given the team behind Dolphin. I guess this also makes dev work easier as you don't need to wait 20 minutes to get past an intro anymore.

Hat's off! I might have some screenies in here in a bit.

They don't want to do that, because it will make more games fully playable

Oh, and I realized that the version I was using was Beta 3, for some reason Beta 2 doesn't seem to work properly.

The FPS are between 24-66. That's freaking awesome!!!
Game title and the first video can be displayed. but I can't get any chance to get in-game thing, including the demo (it crashes if you don't touch the pad for seconds on the title screen). No audio.

My rig is
AMD FX-60 Dual Core
4GB DDR400
X1900 CrossFire Edition
1TB Raid 0 Stripedx4 Dard Drive
X-Fi Elite Pro
Windows Vista 64 Bit

I used beta3 for these, performance was a bit better than with beta2.

I use an AMD Athlon x64 3400 2.21 ghz processor with winxp 64 w/ sp2.

Most of the games I could run on the 32bit version still work and with twice the performance. I couldn't get pokemon coliseum to run and got a humorous error when I tried running naruto 4 (error- not good, time to pray).

Zelda: TP is much more playable now (8-13 fps ingame) and maybe even more so on dual core (I don't have my dual core system set up :( ).

DBZ: B2 is much more playable (10-15 fps ingame), and super fast on loading and on all menus, even keeps around 30fps on the character selection screen when the 3d models are being displayed. Also, the sound is basically perfect.

Sound works on Shadow the Hedgehog, but I didn't hear any on the others.

I tested 5, only 3 worked (well I got a bit impatient on pokemon)

BlueFalcon7
August 25th, 2007, 08:02
OK, I tested the USA version if Super Mario Sunshine
Framerates were all over the place.

Outside, it was about 8-18
Videos, around 35
Level select, around 70*
Bonus levels (where you hear the really cool Mario music, and fighting pety piranha), around 15~25 FPS

No sound. However, I did notice a few weird things.

First of all, when I first got the FLUDD, it gave me a weird message like "DBAT WTF" and Fatal error; continue? I selected yes, but it froze. I went in and played again, and I didn't get that message. It also happened when I beat the boss on Delfino airstrip. It was after I saved, so I played again, and it continued. Then I played, and it was slow, but it played. Here are some screenies.

*I think the game is meant to be only 30 FPS, however, in level select, its meant to be 60 FPS. Im still figuring that out.

Alright, I can defiantly confirm the report that Super Smash Bros. Melee is basically fully playable now.

I only get 10-20fps ingame but it feels like it's enough, I can actually play competitively.

For me, it goes around those speeds, maybe a little faster, but even slo-mo melee plays too fast for me. Its like everyones on speed (if they werent before :P) THis game could use the frame limiter the most!

It's running much faster here - 29FPS at the "Link Awakens" scene. Are you running Vista (X64 Pro here - stripped down to nothing)?

cooliscool
August 26th, 2007, 16:51
No, though I'm actually working on a 3rd party hack to get around it.. can almost guarantee success due to the nature of the error (game waits for a value to be returned, Dolphin doesn't do it). :)

Knuckles
August 27th, 2007, 04:22
the problem is audio related. When you get an item, it plays a sound and the game waits for the message that the sound stopped to play to continue. Since sound in Nintendo games isn't emulated, the sound never plays .. so it can't stop (so the game just waits forever for a sound not playing to stop). There's a patch for it, there's a certain instruction you can cancel that will make it go without problems.... by dolphin's lack of patching system... it can't be done that way.

The GCM itself would need to get modified...

Looks great. So can this be released as a patch or being integrated in Dolphin for the next release and you don't need to modify the .gcm?

edit: I searched the internet and found out that ArtMoney is a cheating software. How is this connected to Dolphin? Did you manually change the contents of you RAM?

ArtMoney is simply a process memory editor.. predominantly used for cheating in games, but potentially anything regarding a process's RAM.

The user would have to use ArtMoney, no way around it (unless Dolphin devs add a patch system, as knuckles pointed out).

Don't have much to show just yet (finding the end of the application RAM is a little difficult), but I'm working on it.

It just doesn't support Audio in many games. It's not dependent on the fps.

Yep, tons more WW shots. This time, playing through Ganon's Tower (used a save I made a long time ago - it's in the "Complete Game Saves" section). I plan on playing all the way through, and posting shots as I go. After that, that's the last of the WW shots from me, promise! Photubucketed for convenience. Lots of different games soon.

With regards to my impressions, Dolphin is by far the single most impressive program I've ever used. Nothing comes close. My greatest thanks and accolades, f|res and ector.

Didn't ignore you, it slipped past me.

You can potentially use any process RAM editor, though I used Artmoney. Do a text search for the text you want to edit, and play with it in the memory editor. Some codes:

Hex:

0x1B = Line end
0x0A = Line break

ASCII:

CC[RRGGBBAA] text color (unsigned byte)

Just had to order a new computer to test this lol also I am in total need of a second computer that can run OSX86.

Mainboard : Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
Processor : Intel Quad Core 6600 with Scythe Ninja PLUS Rev. B
RAM : OCZ Gold XTC DDR2 pc6400
Graphic card : 7950GT 256mb (Almost as fast as 8800GTS 320mb and DX10 games won't become a standard in a while so it's useless to get a DX10 card now when they might get slow once the DX10 games are out plus that OSX86 don't support GeForce 8000 series)
Harddrive : 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA II
DVD-writer : Some random black SATA burner
Case : Antec Sonata III with a 500W PSU and it's supposed to be very quiet
Monitor : Hewlet Packard W2007 20" 1680x1050 with intergrated speakers and it got Brightview

Now just to get myself a Gamecube controller to PC adapter :P

Sorry for OT, but this isn't true. A GeForce 8800 may not be a good card for DX10 games coming out in one or two years, but it is a very good card for current DX9 games. About twice as fast as a 7950 GT. example (http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/2007/test_nvidia_geforce_8800_ultra/24/#abschnitt_performancerating_qualitaet)
The more modern and shader intensive the games get, the more ahead the 8800 will be.

Thx for the address CiC, I have something to start with now... not related but currently breaking my head over code injections etc to get passed that sound init function in WW...

Probably futile for me cause the only hexing I've been doing in the passed few years were modding certain server files... Debugging an x64 app and making a jump (pun intended) to actually insert a code that will skip a function is boggling for me.

But it got me back into learning something again. You guys inspire.

Damn... I'll either have to wait or overclock to play then... both will take some time probably... and I suck at OCing. Any specific program recommended or will I have to bug one of my classmates over MSN to help me with BIOS-OC-ing?

One thing I don't understand is why I can get much higher framerates with this version with only 2.4Ghz when I get much lower with a 3.2 Ghz 32-bit processor with the 32-bit version. But as long as it gets better it's all good :)

Because of 64-bit instructions and optimizations for dual core processors, that's why.

Still, I wouldn't start overclocking my PC just to get a GC emulator working faster, if I were you. The general risks and possible instability far outweighs any possible performance benefits overclocking might provide. That's just me though.

One thing I don't understand is why I can get much higher framerates with this version with only 2.4Ghz when I get much lower with a 3.2 Ghz 32-bit processor with the 32-bit version. But as long as it gets better it's all good :)

Nop, forget about that idea!
Overclocking wouldnt even boost your game about 5% ~ 2fps! You may risk to end up you pc :police:

Got about 5 more fps when clocking it up 0.4Ghzso it actually boosted quite a bit... much better framerates now (but +10 degrees in processor heat while running TP)... but now that I got a bit in Twilight Princess I noticed that Link's shadow is looking really strange and that It's being projected underneath Epona and that the waterreflections are very wrong.
37524
Anyone else here who's got/had this/these problem(s)?

EDIT again: The shadow problem seems to be present only when I can see other shadows. They remove a part of the shadow. It's probably because they're supposed to do that when you're inside that objects shadow to make them not multiply.

Same problems here. Shadows are bugged and instead of water reflection/refraction there is some kind of "ghosting".

Audio is not supported due to most Nintendo games using undocumented(for us) formats for playing sound.

tested some more games and took some screenshots... it seems that XP 64 is faster than Vista 64 since there are people getting better FPS than me with similar CPUs

Zelda TP: 15-20FPS at the beginning after the cutscene (single core)
Mario sunshine: 15-25FPS at the beginning but lots of graphical glitches

From cinematics, mostly.

And a few more (10 files per post limit). The door to the Goron Mines boss is where the game gets stuck. In the door opening cinematic, the lock falls down but the chains don't. The cinematic never ends and is not skippable.

The heat effect (like the water effect) is broken, raping antialiasing and reducing visual resolution.

The next version will be both 32 and 64-bit (though 64-bit will still be faster).

Thanks for the shots! Awesome. I haven't had patience to play that far, due to lack of a fast computer, although I'm getting a new one soon.

Will make an option for higher-resolution render targets, should make the heat effect look better.

The hang sounds similar to the one in WW, which means that it may be fixable....

Wow 109 - 120 FPS?

I can't break 35 - 40 and thats with a trick I discovered by letting WMP 11 x64 run in the background while playing Dolphin.

That trick boosted my speed between 5 - 20 on some games including SA2: Battle, but I still can't break the 35 - 45 FPS barrier.

I suppose it's because I have an AMD64 X 2 3800+ @ 2.0 Ghz and you have a shiny Core2Duo E8400. :P

Do you have Vista x64 SP1 installed? I heard Vista x64 SP1 is much faster than Vista 32-bit and offers speed on par or greater than XP. Would you happen to know how speed is compared to running Dolphin x64 on XP x64 SP2?

-indecisive-
April 1st, 2008, 00:08
Those high frame-rates are really from levels without much going on, like this battle scene and the part before where eggman encounters shadow. That very first eggman level by the way was running at about 50-70fps I think. That bat girl's stage was running slow at about ~40 fps at times.

The graphics are looking good and without noticeable glitches. I wish it were more stable, has support for gamepad(only kb worked), frame limitting, fullscreen, and of course runs faster :whistling
It's still fantastic, though. Thanks a lot to the authors:satisfied

BTW, I don't have x64 XP, so I can't compare. My install was SP1, yeah. Main difference is most likely from the CPU. I would love to play GC games in high resolution perfectly, but we'll just have to patiently wait.

PS. Vista x64 SP1 is still sluggishly crappy. It may be more efficient than w/o SP1, but I can't stand it.

I get about 4 fps on SSBM.

Running Dolphin Final 1.03.2 x64 Public Beta (sc/dc) on Vista 64 Home Premium.
Q6600 OCd to 3 GHz, 4 gigs ram, GeForce 8800GTS (G92)

running it with settings at default. It only utilizes 1 cpu core. It plays ok (7 fps) with only 1 cpu opponent. I dont think that it is using my GPU either. Is it supposed to? Any suggestions? I'm gonna keep playing around with it. I'll post if i get it working.

Good job guys. Its a wonder that it even runs. Keep up the good work!!! Also, how do u insert images?
