Graphics error?

I downloaded this emulator and I've been using it to play a Legend of Zelda OoT ROM. However, every single time I open and close the start menu, I start getting errors and the graphics start getting screwed up. This wouldn't bother me, but then I get one of those "Project 64 has encountered an error and needs to close" error report messages.
What am I doing wrong? Is the ROM corrupt? Any ideas on how I should fix it?
