Question concerning adapters

Ok, I've been playing around with this emulator for a while but I can't get the hang of using a keyboard so all I'm really playing is Mario Kart . I noticed that you can use adapters so can anyone suggest an adapter? And can I use a non-adaption adapter with the adaption plug-in thingy? Thanks

What I meant is can I use a non-Adaptoid adapter and still use the adaptoid (input) plug in?
