Now, we all know that if emulation speed isn't at max, the sound as well as the graphics will lag. However, is there a way to make the sound first priority so that it won't lag even if emulation wasn't running full speed, yet that the graphics would lag? Or maybe the other way around?

There isn't an option for this. Why do you think?

There is an option for this, its called Sync Game to Audio. Its in Jabo's sound plugin.

Well as you know most of the n64 music depends on the user input, like in what area you are playing, what you are doing etc. So if sound was running at full speed but gfx @ 40 fps the gap between the two would keep on getting bigger, and it just won't work because they need to be reasonably in sync.

That's my theory at least :P

Yeah, well I didn't say it worked, I just said it existed.

Synx game to audio just limit's the audio speed to the rest of the game, which is not what doom meant.

Good point, Slougi. I never thought of that. A better questions yet: Is there possible to do such a thing as making the sound not lag but the graphics is still slow?

I think there should be something like frameskipping. If you're playing a game at 30fps instead of 60 it will still run smoothly.

If you're running 55-60 fps you'll notice 'hick-ups' in the video cuz one time it slows down (55fps) one time it's full speed (60fps)

Sooo... if there was frameskipping, and you'd have a sollid 30fps, that'd be smooth, plus there would be more cpu power left to crunch audio data and make it run smoothly too :)

theres no frameskipping in n64 emulation. the closest thing is "Counter Factor"

as the name suggests, sync game to audio slows down the game to match the speed of the audio. audio is not usually faster than the rest of the game.

Frame skipping should be able to be done, just as it is in snes, since the emulator simple "skips" to render frames which saves cpu time.

Well, I wouldn't go against an author...

Syc game to audio limits the game to the audio, which IS what Doom said. Thus we get the name "Sync GAME to AUDIO". What your suggesting is "Sync AUDIO to GAME".
