How do I play zelda?

I downloaded a Zelda rom (Not sure if it works, but I tried 2 random sites) and then I downloaded Rice's Video plugin, and I tried to run the rom and it tells me:

File does not appear to be a valid Nintendo64 Rom.
Verify your ROMs with GoodN64

What does this mean exactly? I just want to play Zelda: OoT if anyone can help me out, thanks.

It could be a corrupt download, so try downloading it again. It might also be a hacked ROM or you did something to it, so I suppose you could try one of the other N64 emulators as well and see if that works. 1964 is a good substitute.

How are you loading the game (via File --> Open Rom or through the Rom Browser)?

What is the extension of the file you are trying to load if you are using the first method? I'm fairly sure that you are trying to load a file that is not the ROM or then your ROM truly is corrupt.
