View Full Version : For anyone who uses KaZaA, Morpheus etc...

(Luckily I`ve been using KaZaA `lite` myself with all the ads etc hacked out... but still)
And if that wasn`t bad enough, simply go into the main directory of KaZaA/Morpheus etc and track down the files "data1024.dbb" "data256.dbb" and if applicable (anyone who has changed their username etc for example a few more in the same folder.... Which I`ve found to be all records of downloads, searches and most worryingly of all in a privacy sense, site URL`s visited while the program has been open. The download and search results are acceptable, but the fact that they log URL`s and everything else.... *shiver*
Just thought some of you might like to be made aware of this. Pretty shocking and dodgy really. I`ve emailed the companies several times asking about this... strangely getting no reply. Hmm.

Er, no. You can see for yourself that its there simply by checking the install agreement for KaZaA/Morpheus. Anyway, I have none of that spyware crap with the lite version... Secondly, well, those files I found myself seem to indicate dodgy goings-on...

Keeping logs of eveything isn't new. But the CyDoor spywhere that comes with KaZaA is, and many people don't know about it. Go to download.com and get a program AdAware, scan your computer with and see what it finds... The is a file out ther you can replace the installed dll with so KaZaA will still run without spyware

If you have KaZaA and would like to get rid of the spyware:

1. First get AdAware ( http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ )
2. Scan your comp with it and delete all found spyware
3. Something that get's removed is called CyDoor, KaZaA won't run without it, so place the "cd_clint.dll" attached to this post where it used to be. This is an edited version of it by someone that just includes what is needed for KaZaA and won't send out information (It will go in the Windows/system or Windows/system32 depending on your OS, make sure to look at it's location when AdAware finds it)

I seem to remember most of it was actual proper posting too rather than just random spamming... wow.
