3D Graphics card problem when loading emulator, I cant seem to fix it.

A friend of mine just got the new project64k emulator. However, when he tries to open the emulator itself, it automatically gives him "Direct3D failed to initialize your HAL device. make sure you have a properlly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0"

He's tried everything. he went to options>configure plugins, then to options>settings to try and fix this. nothing works, is there ANY WAY to get this emulator to run on his computer? Please helpT__T

what is your graphics card run DxDiag and click on display and tell us

tell ur friend to turn his desktop color to 16 bit and it will instantly fix the problem.

errr, actually whether it fixes the problem or not is dependant on the hardware present, that is why we ask for the persons video hardware, before offering help.
