We actually also have increased butterfly larvae levels here in Finland, although nowhere near as extreme as those pics... It's due to the extremely warm weather this summer, they are able to migrate farther north. Here in Oulu I've never seen more than two or three on one tree before, now some are covered quite extensively.
Yay for global warming! :S

Same in Helsinki in certain parts of the city.

Eh, butterflies are nice, but those web thingies are just ugh.

Reminds me of the tent caterpillars we had when I lived in western Washington State. They weren't quite that bad though. :P
