we all know that this is a huge topic, there are thousand of theories that explain how this planet is going to end, if it will actually have an end. i wrote the main, most-believed theories, and i want you to write what do you think about the end of the world, and which theory is correct according to your thoughts.

Well, a comet or meteor collision might cause human extinction but it will hardly destroy the planet. For planet destruction we need first to the sun to expand in to a giant red star, by then the earth will be absorved of course. A blackhole sucking out the solar system might destroy the planet as well. Now if you are talking about the End of Times that's another stroy and we could recall lot of things, infinite things, including Death Star coming and Darth Vader destroying the Earth :P

i picked the natural disasters one, because since we can do nothing about it, it's just a matter of waiting for a huge disaster to come, i mean, what can we do if the ice in the poles melt and the water starts to sweep the lands ?

Well, that's easy. We can all live on boats. Yeah... flying boats and floating islands. We can create some kind of large artificial moons, lots of them, and their gravitational pull should be able to make the land float! Just for fun, we could paint them different colors. Yeah... :P.

As the borg says, we will adapt. No natural disasters will probably stop us as you can see how well we cope with them. We build buildings that can withstand both earthquakes and hurricanes. We can build houses that floats on the sea.
It has to be something far greater than that to cause the end of humanity.

I believe the Earth has already been destroyed and this could be the billionith reincarnation of this planet - for all we know. Scientists say the universe was created by a colossal explosion ('The 'big bang theory') and that the universe is constantly expanding and growing; but eventually it will shrink and condense until all matter will collaspe on itself causing another big bang which will re-create a new universe - possibly replicating a carbon copy of our solar system and our planet but maybe with slightly different changes - and so on...

People talk of parallel universes/earths but the possibility of an infinite
recycled universe could be alot closer to the truth.

If you look at the geological evidence they've been digging up for the last 100 years one can surmize the earth has had several cataclysms. One starting an era and ending another etc.
Our era/world will likely end in a combination of things, namely the geomagnetic pole flip (which is currently being indicated by the recent and steady decay of the earths magnetic field strength). The global warming is likely a normal cycle but when combined with the loss of the protective magnetic field likely will result in some hellish problems. Such as direct exposure to large bursts of microwave energy from space (the sun dumps out a lot of this). Meteorites are less likely (most are nickle iron and are attracted to the magnetic field).

In addition to all this everyone is bickering over things coupled with burgeoning populations. It seems we have set ourselves up for the end of the world ... along with all the other natural factors ocuring. It's just one synergistic mess, I estimate in 7 years it will be close to over. It will be a real mess in between. With all the worlds control freaks and people wanting to be safe above there own freedom.

I like the aliens idea, but I highly doubt that we would be defeated, so I say other. Like stated, I doubt humans would ever be completely destroyed. If you are just talking about Earth, then maybe global warming, but humans would just find another planet we could survive on somehow.

ok you misunderstood me. i meant that if the poles melting create a huge 10.000 feet tide (because that can be possible) who will be able to escape from it???, maybe the only survivors would be the ones who live in the Himalayas, place high enough to be "safe".
but if the tide is like coming at 1 km/h then we would be like "omfg, let's get out of here or something", but we all know that tides don't go that slow.
also, why not an earthquake? the hugest ever, one Richter never even imagined of...

I think the poll must be named end of the HUMAN RACE, since an epidemy (i.e.) can extinguish the human race, but the world still exists.

I have read the options in the poll and I think that many (all?) of them refers to the end of the human race. For example, if we (humans) are atacked by aliens (and beaten up to extintion) then, this would be THE SAME WORLD, but with aliens on (well, they will be no aliens then, since they will be the earth main specie at this moment. They may call aliens to the alliens that will eventually invade again earth when they reinvent emutalk and begin a poll about the end of the world and...)...

What do drugs have to do with anything? Also, maybe people are just fed up with the idiocy and selfishness of others in the world and would love for it to just die. Unfortunately, some things in life will not be able to be known beforehand and the only way to know is to experience it.
