Dual core and pj64

hey,

I am thinking of a total upgrade to a AMD Athlon64 x2 dual core and I was wondering if anyone here has had any problems running their games with a dual core? I have read about some fixes but was wondering what everyone else reckons, is it worth the extra dough or stick with a single core for a few more years????????

any help would be appreciated, thanks


if anyone else has like quake 4 and fear and stuff like that too. i don't wanna lose all my favourite games "pj64 has consumed the last month of my life since downloading it, i completely forgot about quake, i think my wife is pissed about the money i spent on it for nothing lol" just because i upgraded to a processor that i don't really need

you won't get much benefit from the 2nd core either (although each is likely to be plenty fast enough) although it helps avoid slowdown if your computer is doing anything else at the same time (like most are).
im assuming, i havent been able to afford smp since 1998 (go dual ppro 200@233!) when i was spending my parents money..
