That's what's been happening with my Project 64. I start off a game and it goes 60 fps sharp and suddenly it starts dropping and never maintains smooth play ever again, until I restart the ROM or pause and come back later. Here are my system specs:
3.2 GHz P4
1 gig RAM
ATI X300 (should do the trick just fine)
200 gig HDD
I've installed a fresh XP copy and made sure every single installed part has been fully tested by me. Obviously it didn't solve the problem. Thanks.

Does this happen to all games or a certain game?

-What video plugin are you using?
Jabo's latest plug-in. 1.6 if I'm not mistaken.
-Are there any GS codes on?
Nope.
-Are you using the latest RDB?
Yeah.
-Is your ROM a good version? Get GoodN64 and GoodWindows and scan your ROM
The GoodN64 verified the ROMs, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to fix a ROM if it's damaged. And it's all the ROMs as far as I'm concerned, not just one. Am I out of options?

Do you have the latest DirectX?
Sounds a bit like a DX problem to me.

Downloaded the latest DirectX yesterday, but it didn't make a difference. ****

ATI X300 (should do the trick just fine)
Emulators don't render graphics with your AGP card, they do it with the CPU, because different brands of cards, yield different and sometimes unpredictable results.
At least I don't think PJ64 uses OpenGL.
Out of curiosity, how many processes does your OS have running? Norton? Mail clients, etc?

The CPU usage is at 2%, so the processes are probably trivial. I'm not sure what to do. I wanted to upgrade my parts, but I thought what I already have should've ran the games flawlessly. Should I upgrade?
