View Full Version : Nintendo being nice to Europe/UK - is anyone else shocked?

Mainly for the UK/European faction of the boards, but is anyone else really really shocked by how decently Nintendo is treating us this time around? I mean, first we have the lovely low price of £150... then we hear of a 60hz mode being added rather than the weird progressive scan mode... which the great Rogue Leader will support! THEN they tell us we`ll also be getting a nice RGB SCART lead in the box rather than having to fork out separately for one, and now, better yet we`re getting an improved, lengthened version of the already damn good Luigi`s Mansion especially for us. (note for anyone who hasn`t heard about this, the story is on tendobox.com) I LOVE NINTENDO AGAIN!
<--------Spinning exicitedly... just look at it go! Now THAT`S excitement....

Here's the 'bad' news:
Nintendo Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg) has ALWAYS supplied a composite-> SCART connector with the consoles... soo... that's not really new.
What is new, is that Nintendo Europe has a *bigger* launch budget than Microsoft has for it's XBOX (due tomorrow). It is also far bigger than the GBA campaign, and we all know, that was a -good- one. It really surprised me, didn't know Nintendo Europe was up to that.
Anyhoo, it's looking bright. I don't know about other countries, but over here Nintendo Netherlands is holding the famous Cube Clubs like Nintendo of America did.
That's sweeeeeeet :D

Although people with HDTV's will be screwed out of the beauty of the progressive scan mode :)

I'll take 100Hz progressive PAL over 60Hz interlaced NTSC... or was that not the choice? Anyway who cares, £150 is gooooood.

LOL
I saw the X-Box ads last night (talk about last minute advertising I saw nothing until last night) they're trying to do the stylish thing like Sony did, the only problem being the console itself is an ugly beast compared to the PS2 and not as cute as the GameCube
for example
PS2 = "I have nice fine straight lines"
Gamecube = "I'm so small and cute!"
X-Box = "WTF do you want?"
there is a saving grace to all of these consoles, perhaps EB will stop filling their shelves with crappy second hand PSOne games ;)

Nintendo being nice to Europe/UK - is anyone else shocked? Japanese companies (at last:sleepy: )realised that Europe had a big potential video games market. Editors are meeting and making agreements for games distribution here.(I can't reveal my source, but it's reliable. ;) ) Another example is special edition of Konami's Metal Gear Solid 2 for Europe...
Be prepared for more good things happening in the future :d

No, in the US when you hold B when turning the system on you get 60Hz 480p progressive scan. And I don't think it's 100Hz progressive, I think that's interlaced, and 50Hz is the progressive mode.

I bought Alundra and Smash Brothers second hand, and Alundra was pretty scratched up :(
I bought them from CEX though, the problem with EB for example is they had FFIX for £35 second hand or £40 brand new, but just opposite EB in Dixons they had FFIX brand new (shrinkwrapped and everything) at £25 :D

I clocked it already, it's damm good, it'd make a nice port to the GBA too, if it wasn't for it's size
