Play the Sun's Song in the Market to make it exactly morning. Walking out of the gate to Hyrule Field, you'll see him running to the left of Lon Lon Ranch. Just follow him until it gets dark and talk to him with the bunny hood on.

Now that you mention it.... what exactly do those gossip stones mean by the deku stick and the butterfly???

Touching a butterfly with a deku stick gives you a fairy.

That is really f***-ed up you know... I've waited for five minutes copletely sill and not a single fairy appeared... after seeing you post, I try it and BOOM!!! I get a fairy.....
